About Meghan
Meghan Hinman is a state licensed and nationally certified music psychotherapist with over ten years of experience. She received graduate training at the Hahnemann Creative Arts in Therapy Program at Drexel University in Philadelphia, and post-graduate training at the Music Psychotherapy Center in New York. She is currently a doctoral student in Jungian and Depth Psychotherapy at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Meghan sees adults and children for private or family psychotherapy or music psychotherapy in New York City (based in Manhattan and Brooklyn).
Meghan’s gentle, intuitive approach is influenced by psychodynamic and interpersonal orientations to psychology. Since 2005, she has specialized in using music psychotherapy to treat and support adults and children with serious medical illnesses and their families. Meghan has worked at several Manhattan hospitals and is currently affiliated with the Palliative Care Team at Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side. Meghan has also worked extensively with adults who are seeking to understand their sexuality, and with individuals coping with a variety of life struggles, including anxiety, depression, and childhood trauma.
Meghan has presented both nationally and internationally about her music psychotherapy work, published in clinical journals, and led efforts to develop and expand music therapy programs in agencies and hospitals. She also supervises music therapy graduate students and interns.
